Truth and Reconciliation in action: Welcoming new voices to BMO’s Indigenous Advisory Council

September 24, 2025 | Talent and inclusion

On September 30, we mark the National Day for Truth and Reconciliation—a time to honour the children who never returned home, survivors of residential schools, their families and their communities. This day responds to Call to Action 80 from the Truth and Reconciliation Commission, recognizing the importance of public commemoration in acknowledging the lasting impacts of residential schools.

As we approach Canada’s fifth National Day for Truth and Reconciliation, BMO reaffirms our commitment to listening, learning and acting in partnership with Indigenous communities. We invite you to explore resources that support reflection, education and allyship, and to learn more about BMO’s journey toward Reconciliation.

Welcoming five new members to the Indigenous Advisory Council

BMO is proud to welcome five distinguished leaders to our Indigenous Advisory Council (IAC), reinforcing our commitment to Reconciliation, inclusion and economic empowerment for Indigenous communities across Canada.

The IAC plays a vital role in shaping BMO’s Indigenous Strategy, which is guided by three pillars: education, employment, and economic empowerment. The new members bring deep experience, insight and leadership to help ensure our strategies and services reflect and serve Indigenous customers, colleagues and communities.

We are honoured to welcome:

Their voices will help guide BMO’s continued efforts to respond meaningfully to the Truth and Reconciliation Commission’s Call to Action 92, and to build lasting relationships rooted in respect, understanding and shared prosperity.

Current IAC members, Chief Willie and Nadir André, share reflections on their time with the council:
