BMO’s John McNain named in Top 20 Global LGBT+ Executive Role Model List
We are pleased to announce that John McNain, Head, Personal Banking Products and Experience for Canadian P&BB has been named in the top 20 of INvolve’s 2022 Outstanding Top 100 LGBT+ Executive Role Model List.
The 2022 OUTstanding LGBT+ Role Model Lists, supported by Yahoo Finance, are a powerful reflection of the incredible achievements of LGBT+ people and their allies in the business community. The lists, prepared by diversity and inclusion membership organisation INvolve, highlight role models for others to follow when it comes to being out and proud at work, driving positive change in the office, or supporting your LGBT+ colleagues. Nominations were reviewed by the OUTstanding judging panel, who scored each person on the influence of their role, their impact on staff inside and outside the workplace, and their business achievements.
John has been a leader in diversity and inclusion, within student and employee resources groups, for over 20 years. He currently serves as a Director of Rainbow Railroad, a global not-for-profit organization that helps people facing persecution based on their sexual orientation, gender identity or self-expression to find safety through emergency relocation and other forms of assistance. In 2022, John championed the BMO Rainbow Deposit Initiative which brought BMO and Rainbow Railroad together to partner in a social media campaign to raise awareness and $50,000 in funds for Rainbow Railroad. John is one of BMO’s most senior out members of the 2SLGBTQ+ community and is an advocate for driving an inclusive society. He is an active role model, both within BMO and across the community, ensuring an equitable, visible, and vocal representation. He has been featured in BMO 2SLGBTQ+ recruiting, allyship, and Pride videos, he hosts career sessions to discuss his journey as an out leader, he advocates for the importance of out allies, and he provides mentorship to 2SLGBTQ+ employees including those looking to start a family.
