BMO Place and George Della Rocca honoured with industry recognition
Accolades for BMO Place, our world-class workplace in Toronto, continue to pour in. BMO Place recently received two significant awards – the 2023 International Facility Management Association (IFMA) Award of Distinction for Workplace Innovation and the 2023 CoreNet Canada REmmy Award for Workplace Excellence.
The IFMA Workplace Innovation Award recognizes organizations that have demonstrated exceptional innovation in the design, implementation and management of their workplaces. This award highlights the importance of workplace innovation in enhancing employee productivity, well-being and engagement and in driving organizational success. These elements are found in abundance at our new premises and, in particular, at BMO Place.
The CoreNet Workplace Excellence Award recognizes a real estate project that has raised the bar in Canada, and brought innovation and sustainability to the workplace. These are hallmarks of the design of BMO Place and are aligned with BMO’s priorities, as we build a digitally enabled, future-ready bank. It also highlights the work of the many teams at BMO who contribute to our workplace design and effectiveness, especially the many people in Technology & Operations and People & Culture who help create holistic experiences for our employees.
Receiving real estate industry recognition of our transformative workplaces is a testament to the exceptional efforts of our Corporate Real Estate (CRE) team – and the leadership of George Della Rocca, Global Head, Corporate Real Estate who was also named Corporate Real Estate Professional of the Year by CoreNet Canada. This award recognizes the CRE professional who made outstanding and distinguished contributions to their company and the broader real estate community within the past year.

CRE has elevated BMO’s brand by building state-of-the-art, world-class infrastructure, implementing award-winning sustainability initiatives, and deploying consistent design standards in all bank locations – including our expanded US footprint resulting from the Bank of the West acquisition.
Winning three coveted real estate industry awards is an incredible achievement for a bank. What’s most impressive is that BMO Place has received this recognition even without the completion of Phase Two, which will include BMO’s new Institute for Learning, to be unveiled in summer 2024. Once complete, BMO Place will truly be a magnificent showcase for BMO – and the community of purpose-built design that prioritizes innovation, collaboration and growth.
