BMO Partners to Launch Canadian Anti-Scam Coalition

October 14, 2025 | Growth & Strategy

BMO is proud to be a founding member of the Canadian Anti-Scam Coalition (CASC)—Canada’s first unified, cross-sector initiative dedicated to protecting Canadians from the growing threat of scams targeting consumers and the public.

Launched in partnership with leading financial institutions, telecommunications and technology companies, law enforcement agencies and the federal government, CASC represents an unprecedented collaboration in the joint fight against fraud. The coalition will provide a collaborative and coordinated response to the increasingly sophisticated scam operations that target the public through a variety of channels, from traditional phone calls to complex schemes using methods like AI and deepfakes.

This fall, CASC will roll out a national education campaign—Stand Against Scams—to raise awareness and empower Canadians with tools and knowledge to recognize and prevent scams.

“Scams are evolving faster than ever, and criminals are becoming increasingly sophisticated in targeting Canadians. This coalition represents something we’ve never seen before—Canada’s major organizations standing together with one unified message. Every year, it’s estimated that over a trillion dollars are siphoned from unsuspecting individuals worldwide through scams that often fund organized crime. For those impacted, the ripple effects are devastating.”

– Anthony Ostler
Chair of the CASC Steering Committee and President & CEO, Canadian Bankers Association

CASC is the largest cross-sector anti-scam effort in Canadian history. Together with other coalition members, BMO is contributing funding, expertise and strategic support to help drive this important initiative forward and protect our colleagues, customers and communities from fraud.
