Supporting the troops who support our community

April 3, 2020 | COVID response

Whether it’s providing support to vulnerable communities, delivering supplies or reacting to the many needs across the country – our troops play a critical, life saving role in times of crisis. As the world continues to battle the spread of COVID-19, the Canadian military has mobilized 24,000 troops to be ready to assist civil authorities.

BMO made it clear, in a social media post from BMO CEO Darryl White, that if Canadian reservists who work for the bank are called to help fight COVID-19, it will be with BMO’s full support – including extension of their benefits package, a paid leave allocation and pre-approved leave of absence. They can serve knowing that they are backed up by their co-workers and teams.

COVID-19: BMO is here to help

In response to the extraordinary challenges presented by the pandemic, BMO has been working to support its customers, employees and communities. In addition to working to safeguard our employees’ health and safety and meet the needs of our customers, BMO has committed funds to support community partners in Canada and the U.S. as they grapple with the unprecedented demand for services.

Steadfast support for Canada’s Military

BMO is proud of our troops and all that they do to support our communities. The bank sponsors the RCAF Run, Navy Bike Ride, Canada Army Run and Military Family Appreciation Days across Canada.

Our relationship with the military is one that runs deep and we recently signed a 10-year extension with the Canadian Forces Morale and Welfare Services– ensuring we remain the exclusive provider of banking services to members of the defence community in Canada.
