Celebrating AI: the tech multi-tool unlocking opportunities for Canada’s economy
July 16 is Artificial Intelligence (AI) Appreciation Day, which recognizes AI’s positive contributions to humanity while encouraging discourse about the importance of using AI responsibly. AI has changed much of how we live and work, and also represents a significant opportunity for the Canadian economy. According to the federal government, the Canadian AI market is projected to reach $28.2 billion in 2028.
With all that opportunity at our fingertips, BMO is focused on how we can maximize the benefits of AI in a way that supports a thriving economy. For example, we’re leveraging our thought leadership via sponsorship and mentor programs. Through BMO’s sponsorship of Creative Destruction Lab (CDL), the bank supports start-up businesses creating digital tools that generate value – both for them and the wider business community.
Founded in 2012 at the University of Toronto’s Rotman School of Management, CDL is a global program for seed-stage, science-based start-ups that pairs founders with a group of accomplished mentors including entrepreneurs, angel investors, economists and scientists.
Recently, Eric Morrow, Managing Director, Enterprise Data Science and AI at BMO and CDL Mentor was proud to present the award to this year’s CDL Montreal AI cohort winner.. Trampoline AI aims to create an impactful solution enabling businesses to achieve a digital transformation, while creating value for their clients and employees. They have built an AI-driven, semantic search engine that doubles as a self-managed knowledge base, which ensures all the data businesses use to make information is easy to find while prioritizing security and privacy – and safeguarding the data governance and controls we need to ensure we are using AI responsibly and accurately. Meanwhile, employees can dedicate their time and efforts to focus on other important tasks and projects.
“AI is transforming the Canadian economy in incredible ways. Witnessing that energy and innovation with this year’s cohort was inspiring. The hard work, passion and delivering on purpose was evident all around. It was my honour to present Trampoline AI with this year’s BMO award.”
