BMO Wins Green Purchasing Award

July 15, 2019 | Sustainability

In recognition of excellence in sustainable procurement, BMO has been selected as one of the recipients of Grand & Toy’s 2018 Leadership in Greener Purchasing Award – Financial Sector. Award recipients are leaders in their sector for purchasing products with environmental attributes and ecolabels.

These awards are determined primarily by the percentage of a company’s annual green expenditure compared to non-green expenditure. Grand & Toy’s Shades of Green product offerings reflect greener attributes including recycled, remanufactured, energy-efficient and/or ecolabels such as FSC, GREENGUARD and GreenSeal. In 2018, BMO had a green-spend ratio of 70.6%. This is a significant accomplishment, with many competing candidates having a green spend ranging from 30-70%.

BMO is committed to enhancing our procurement strategy by driving our sustainability mandate forward. That means working with green suppliers when opportunities arise, and understanding our suppliers’ sustainability strategies. Working to be sustainable in our procurement processes allows us to grow the good in the communities where we live, work and do business.
