BMO Volunteer Day 2019 Fuels the Good

June 11, 2019 | Giving and sponsorships

On June 11, BMO marks its annual Volunteer Day—but in fact, the nearly 370 service projects our employees will complete as part of Volunteer Day activities span from June 1 to 16 this year. BMO Volunteer Day brings together nearly 5,000 employees, collectively dedicating thousands of service hours to local non-profits that need that extra infusion of people power to complete key  projects.

From Halifax to Dallas, Vancouver to London (U.K.), volunteer activities run the gamut from gardening, cleaning, coordinating youth activities and preparing taxes for seniors, to helping jobseekers, sorting food pantry donations or serving a meal to veterans. But Volunteer Day is truly borderless and doesn’t always require working onsite. One local non-profit based in Chicago, Community Career Center, will benefit from virtual BMO volunteers from across North America from June 11 to 14. Community Career Center helps job seekers in the western suburbs of Chicago get the support they need to conduct effective and successful job searches. BMO employees will conduct one or more one-hour mock interviews with job seekers – many of whom are mid-level career professionals or women re-entering the workforce. BMO’s volunteer support will allow job seekers to practice, and receive actionable feedback on, critical phone interviewing skills – something the agency typically doesn’t have the resources to focus on.

BMO’s Social Good blog will profile the experiences of a number of BMO Volunteer Day participants, so check back to get a look at specific projects from across North America this month.
