BMO Partners with Bloomberg on Sustainable Finance Week

November 7, 2020 | Sustainability

BMO is proud to be the exclusive Canadian sponsor of Bloomberg Sustainable Finance Week (SFW) which takes place Nov. 30 to Dec. 4. This is the second year of BMO’s three-year partnership with Bloomberg and during this time, editorial content and virtual events, including the Sustainable Business Summit Global (Nov 30 and Dec. 1), will be featured to showcase emerging trends, visionary ideas and market moving players critical to the area of sustainable finance.

This year’s major themes include social impact, climate policy and the future of sustainable investing, among many other important topics that align with BMO’s commitment to a sustainable future.

The Bloomberg SFW partnership reinforces BMO’s Purpose-driven bold pledge to support progress toward a sustainable future, a thriving economy and a more inclusive society with zero barriers. We also support our clients in their pursuit of sustainable objectives and positive social impact such as those expressed in the United Nations Sustainable Development Goals as well as environmental outcomes supporting the transition to a lower-carbon economy.

In this moment of unprecedented disruption, sustainable finance has never been more relevant, and investors are recognizing the benefits. In just eight years, sustainably-managed assets under management have grown from 11% to 30%, according to Bloomberg. At this rate of growth, $75 trillion in ESG-mandated assets could be in market by 2025.

As part of the sponsorship, we are organizing a number of activities including:

  • The Sustainable Business Summit Global, to be held on Dec. 1 as a virtual event and featuring BMO’s Dan Barclay and Kristi Mitchem. Bloomberg is holding additional virtual forums during the week and more information can be found here.
  • The launch of a specially curated content based ad campaign. Titled Ideas that make a difference, this 9-week campaign began this week on Nov. 2 and features our in-house sustainability experts. Our thought leadership will appear across a range of Bloomberg ads including bloomberg.com and QuickTake, Bloomberg’s 24-hour Twitter news feed. Check out our special content hub and make sure to listen to our podcast to follow along.

Throughout Sustainable Finance Week, Bloomberg will also be highlighting sustainability across its media platform including its television, radio, print, digital and social channels.

BMO is particularly proud to support SFW for a second consecutive year, after just being named one of the world’s most sustainably managed companies.
