BMO Launches Canadian Veterans Advisory Council

In April 2019, BMO launched our newest Employee Resource Group (ERG): the Canadian Veterans Advisory Council (VAC). Like its U.S. counterpart, the group aims to support, develop and promote the unique talents of our military veteran employees. VAC offers assistance and training, as well as help in building networks, preserving social memory and celebrating the diversity of its membership. And in addition to providing a voice for military veteran employees and their allies, the group creates a community that supports current and former military personnel and military spouses.

BMO operates 14 Employee Resource Groups (ERGs) – voluntary, employee-led groups that bring together people with similar interests, values, and/or affinities. Creating a diverse and inclusive workplace is a top priority for us, and ERGs help ensure that all our employees can play a part in that.

We also support military veteran customers. We’re the official bank of the Canadian Defence Community, and we recently signed on as a founding employment partner of the Military Spousal Employment Network, which helps military spouses directly access employers and employment opportunities. In both Canada and the U.S., we work with military veteran customers to offer products and services that fit their needs throughout their careers.
